When did you move to Brechin and what attracted you to live here?

We moved here in April of 2020. We had friends already living here and have been visiting for years.  Dave and I are very involved in the community.  I teach yoga/ wellness and also volunteer my classes at the Lagoon City Community Centre (LCCA).  Additionally we are on the social events committee at the LCCA, along with the Goose Management Volunteer Program in LC.   Dave is involved in our condo board activities which is a volunteer commitment. We enjoy our community and love meeting new faces.

When was Suedavey Marketing first established and can you give us a little bit of the history behind your marketing company?

We officially started this spring, as a result of success on Lagoon City Hoodies, Tee Shirts and pillows and also some other orders for local businesses just by word of mouth. Dave has been involved in various aspects of the promotional products industry since 1984.

What made you go into business for yourselves? Was it always a passion of yours?

We both still have full time jobs and we both work from home.  Dave is in Sales & Marketing and I am in finance/accounting. This is just a cottage industry and something to get going as we get closer to retirement.  Once we moved up to lagoon city during the pandemic, we were making all natural cotton Lagoon City Pillows with the coordinates.  Then Dave and I designed the same logo and artwork on tee shirts and then to the hoodies and the rest is history.

If you had to name one favourite marketing project you have worked on, what would it be and why?

Definitely the Lagoon City apparel. We were very happy about how many residents were excited to purchase and show pride in the community…..MORE TO COME!

What geographical areas does Suedavey Marketing cover?

For now, I would say upper Lake Simcoe………Barrie through to Beaverton, but don’t be afraid to ask if you are out of this area.

What is your favourite thing about owing a local business?

We love being involved in the community.

What do Sue and Dave like to do in their free time?

Boating, biking, walking/hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, golf & travel.

If you had any words of encouragement or advice for someone thinking of opening up their own business to follow their dreams, what would they be?

GO FOR IT……nothing ventured, nothing gained.
