Lagoon City Pier One Resort offers a family oriented, dog friendly and relaxing environment, with waterfront dining on the shores of Lake Simcoe and we are so lucky that it is located right here in Lagoon City! The resort has so much to offer including a bistro, waterfront dining, a spa, indoor heated pool and many community events including recreation rentals.
We asked Operations Manager, Ana Figueiredo a few questions about the new resort and are so pleased to introduce you to Lagoon City Pier One Resort in our Community Spotlight.
When did Lagoon City Pier One Resort open and are you planning on remaining open during the winter?
We opened this year in June 2022 and plan on being open all seasons.
We understand it was a bit of a learning curve and adjustment when you first opened. How did you manage to overcome this?
Our biggest challenge was staffing. Especially challenging was finding a Head Chef to lead our kitchen. Post covid restaurant trade staffing has been a problem province wide.
Lagoon City Pier One Resort offers some amazing community events. What has been your favourite event to plan so far and why?
Our Dinner and Magic shows with Magician Comedian Matt Disero, I have never laughed so hard.
We understand you offer as spa as well as an indoor pool. Are there any discounts applied to residents that live in Lagoon City?
We offer an independently contracted Spa owned and operated by Carmen. Our indoor heated pool set at 82° with a depth of 10ft at its deepest is quite popular. Please call the front desk for current local rates.
Can you tell us a bit about the new chef that you recently hired? Is he local and where did he learn his culinary skills?
Adam Mattei, our Head Chef is of indigenous descend, moved out to join us from Midland Ontario. Mature Culinary Chef that has perfected his skills working in hospitality for over 20 years.
What do you hope your customers gain by visiting your resort?
The opportunity to enjoy excellent food, make beautiful memories and take a least one picture with one of our spectacular sunsets.
Are reservations required to dine the Pier One Bistro & Bar?
Reservations would be preferred during dinner hours and weekends.
We understand you offer an Aqua Fitness Class. Can you tell us a little bit about that program?
We offer an amazing aqua fitness class that is offered Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Friday mornings at 8am with certified YMCA instructor Julie.
What are your plans during the winter season?
Catering to the ice fishing/ snowmobiling community. We are offering 10% off room rates, as well as restaurant meals when you present proof of an OSFC Permit or ice fishing hut rental pass. We offer snow shoeing and there is a cross country skiing trail right off of property to Lake Simcoe. We will be offering fire pits, an indoor heated pool, sauna and a spa for relaxation after playing your winter sports. We want to be your winter hub.
If you could give us one piece of advice when operating a local business what would it be and why?
Building community ties is key to success. Support local. Employ local. Why? Because as a local I love the feeling I get when visiting local and it feels like home.
